Goodbye Hakhyun Students

I will miss my students at Hakhyun Elementary School.  We have taught each other a lot.  I hope I have done a good job.  Thank you for all the smiles and laughs.  Send me emails and messages anytime! ^^

Things I Will Miss About Korea - Part 1

I will go back to America next week.  One thing I will really miss is Korean Barbecue!  In America, we don't cook at the table.  People would freak out if someone walked through the restaurant with hot coals.  In Korea, people like it!  These coals were used to cook hanwoo (한우).  I've never tasted anything like it in America.

Lotto Fever

In my hometown, there has been "lotto fever". Many people are excited about the lotto. 

The jackpot rose to $448,000,000 US (498,534,400,000 KRW). Many of my friends bought tickets. The winning numbers were drawn last night. 

I wonder if I could buy Ansan with that?  

Three people had winning tickets, so the jackpot will be split. It's still a lot of money. ^^

Bratwurst Spill

I heard some sad news from my hometown.  We have a traditional food called bratwurst. It is a delicious sausage.  We like it so much that we have a special holiday in August called Bratwurst Day! The bad news is that there was a truck accident.  The driver is ok, but there was some sausage spilled on the road.  헐!!  Many people are a little sad. ㅋㅋ

The Powerball Lottery Winner

This is the Powerball Lottery winner.  Her name is Gloria Mackenzie.  She is 84 years old.  In this picture, she is with her son. I am surprised that they don't have bigger smiles.  Maybe they have been getting a lot of phone calls and knocks at the door?  Regardless, I hope they are enjoying themselves and having a nice time with all that money. ^^

Visiting Tokyo

My friend will visit Tokyo on Tuesday.  I am very excited for her.  She will stay for two days.  Her mom speaks Japanese very well and will be going with her.  I think she will have a lot of fun.  When I think of Tokyo, I imagine tall buildings, bright lights, and crowds of people.  I wonder if she will be able to enjoy the night life?

Ansan Botanical Gardens

Today, I visited the Ansan Botanical Gardens (안산식물원) for the first time.  It was a nice day to go there.  It wasn't too hot or too cold.  I saw a lot of children playing games and enjoying nature.  There were also a lot of statues.  My favorite was of a man doing a handstand.  I could have done that too, but I would have spilled my blueberry juice. ㅎㅎㅎ
